Durban is the hub of the province built around the busiest port in Africa,a thrilling holiday city. This is where different cultures of Colonial Europeans, Indian , Coloured and Zulu ,have come to meet and give a unique atmosphere, that is reflected in the architecture, fashions, sight and sounds.

This mix has now produced a vibrant modern city which reflects its past heritage as can be seen by the fantastic nightlife, with many pubs and restaurants that is a culinary experience.

You can also delve for bargains in the back streets and markets, yet there is in addition, the sophisticated shopping experience with smart shops and shopping malls.

One of Durbans prime assets are the endless beaches. The weather seldom drops below 20C ,the water is warm all year round and the protected beaches are ideal for swimming and surfing.

Drakensberg Mountains

From Durban inland ,there is the beauty of the Drakensberg Mountains which tower over 3000 metres above the African plains. This is one of Southern Africas premier tourist attractions. An awesome mountain range with a scenic beauty and a diversity of flora and fauna. There are activities such as hiking, horse riding , bird watching and fishing. You can also discover the San rock paintings, some dating back 2400 years amongst the caves and cliffs.

Hibiscus Coast

Go South to the Hibiscus Coast and you will find a glorious coastline, with deserted beaches stretching for miles ,georgous bays and lagoons , rolling hills , cool forests and smaller quaint holiday towns.

Here also is an undiscovered golf paradise, with some of the best and most beautiful courses in the, world with a backdrop of the dramatic ocean. Another popular sport is this area, is diving, where there are reefs , wrecks and a huge variety of fish . You can even veiw sharks, dolphins and whales.

Zululand

Northwards across the Tugela River is Zululand the traditional home of the Zulu. Which in English translates to Heaven , the land of Heaven. With fertile plains and valleys stretching into the blue distance there is a beautiful vision of emptly rolling hills, grasslands forests and wide open skies. Steeped in history from the time of Shaka, to the Zulu and the Boer wars, there is an abundance of historical sights and battlefields to visit.

There are many traditional Zulu villages and the area is famous for some of the oldest game reserves in South Africa, where you can veiw a multitude of game including the big five , lion , rhino, buffalo, leopard and elephant.
